7 tips for cleaning tile joints


Your bathroom tiles are new, as is your kitchen splashback, but the joints are gray and dirty. In short, it got ugly when you are a queen of the household! Do not panic, we will explain how to remedy it with natural products.

1) Clean your joints with Blanc de Meudon


Mix 4 tablespoons of white Meudon with 4 tablespoons of water. Apply this potion on the joints of the bathroom and leave to act for 1 hour. Then scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse with clear water.

2) Clean your joints with claystone


Simply wet your sponge and soak it in white stone, also called claystone. Rub the joints with, then rinse with clear water. This solution also protects your tiles.

3) Clean your joints with soda crystals


Before covering your wall tiles because it is too dirty, try this cleaning method: dissolve 125 g of soda crystals in 60 cl of hot water and clean the joints using an old toothbrush. Attention, wear gloves and protective glasses to handle the soda crystals. Then rinse with clear water.

4) Clean your joints with baking soda


Mix 4 tablespoons of baking soda with 10 cl of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Especially do not fill the bottle because of it foam! Spray the cleaner on the joints and leave to act for 1 hour, rub and rinse with clear water.

5) Clean your joints with percarbonate of soda


Dilute 1 tablespoon of soda percarbonate in 100 ml of very hot water. Mix until completely dissolved. Apply this solution to the tile joints using gloves. Leave on for 1-hour minimum, then scrub with a toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly.

6) Clean your tile joints with white vinegar


In a container, mix 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid with 1 large glass of white vinegar. Moisten a toothbrush with this mixture then rub the joints with. Leave to act for 10 minutes then rinse with clear water.

7) Clean your joints with salted lemon


Cut a lemon in half and dip the cut part in coarse salt. Rub your bathroom seals directly with the lemon, adding salt as you go. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with clear water.

My little extra tips


Blanc de Meudon, claystone, soda crystals, and white vinegar are available at the best prices in supermarkets, in the household products department. Baking soda is sold in the household department but also in the food department with salt, at a very attractive price: no question of buying it in pharmacies where it will be too expensive and in a small container. Soda ash is more difficult to find. The best is to go to an organic store in the cleaning products department.
